If You Forget Me
I want you to know
one thing.
You know how this is:
if I look
at the crystal moon, at the red branch
of the slow autumn at my window,
if I touch
near the fire
the impalpable ash
or the wrinkled body of the log,
everything carries me to you,
as if everything that exists,
aromas, light, metals,
were little boats
that sail
toward those isles of yours that wait for me.
Well, now,
if little by little you stop loving me
I shall stop loving you little by little.
If suddenly
you forget me
do not look for me,
for I shall already have forgotten you.
If you think it long and mad,
the wind of banners
that passes through my life,
and you decide
to leave me at the shore
of the heart where I have roots,
remember
that on that day,
at that hour,
I shall lift my arms
and my roots will set off
to seek another land.
But
if each day,
each hour,
you feel that you are destined for me
with implacable sweetness,
if each day a flower
climbs up to your lips to seek me,
ah my love, ah my own,
in me all that fire is repeated,
in me nothing is extinguished or forgotten,
my love feeds on your love, beloved,
and as long as you live it will be in your arms
without leaving mine.
~ Pablo Neruda

As a “modern” photographer, i mostly use digital cameras… Yet, when i have the chance, i love shooting films and processing them myself in the darkroom for the magic that happens in there has no equivalent in the digital world. These are a few shots i took and developed a while back.
“The Keys“
For i know that someday, somehow, true love will come along with locks that fit my imperfect keys and keys able to open my solid locks.

“The Alley“
Alleys scare me. During the day, some of them seem ‘okay’ to be cut through, but at night, they turn out to be the most frightening places ever created for you never know who or what is going to come your way.

“Taking-Off“
I know there’s nothing more common than seeing a plane in the sky… Yet, i often think of the people who are up there. I wonder where they’re going, and why. Maybe it’s because i am an immigrant but when i see landings at LAX, i imagine that many of these passengers are coming here to realize their American Dreams and i can’t help but to identify with them and feel empathy.

“Unlocked Dreams“
Keep your spirit high and fight those who try to imprison your dreams – always.

“At Opposite Ends“
They say opposites attract but sometimes when i think about what we’re doing to our planet i wonder.

“The Ceremony“
The place is silent – for now. In a few hours, happiness and excitement will fill the atmosphere; and proud and moved parents will watch their children receive their so long-awaited and hoped for diplomas.

“Passing of the Seasons“
Even though the passing of the seasons is scarcely noticeable in Southern California, time flies and our only option is to keep on dreaming and trying because one thing is sure: it won’t wait for us. And before we know it, winter is here.
